July is a month for overcoming recent global disturbances and preparing in advance for the next major disruption likely coming in Fall 2022. Benevolence, generosity, and good stewardship win the summer peak.
7/1 DISSONANCE. July begins with agitated energy, a preview that this month we will need to push for what we want and defend ourselves as assertive Mars challenges transformative Pluto which can be destructive and disruptive- or powerful and productive- depending on how it’s used. The planet feels unsettled coming off June with collective discomfort around:
US Supreme Court overturn of Roe v. Wade abortion law,
US Supreme Court cataclysmic decision to limit the EPA’s ability to enforce the Clean Air Act,
US Supreme Court grants unprecedented immunity for Border Patrol agents to conduct search-and-seizure in Egbert v. Boule,
President Biden’s disastrous trade restrictions on Russian gold and oil,
Inflation skyrocketing for US Dollar,
China suspends citizen bank withdrawals based on individuals’ Covid status sets frightening new global civil rights precedent.
7/4 INDEPENDENCE DAY.
Mars transitions into the earthy sign Taurus from 7/4-8/20 making us all more physical and material. Good food, drink, sex, massage, and relaxation may speak to us as we live languidly during the heat of summer. Negatively used, Mars’ trek through Taurus could make us lazy, gluttonous, or materialistic.
We want to indulge sensuous bodily pleasures in July & August.
Simultaneously, Mercury briefly transitions into the water sign Cancer from 7/4-19 encouraging us to talk about our emotions, what we need to feel safe, secure, and taken care of. Negatively used, Mercury’s transition into Cancer can make us sound cranky, crabby, or needy.

7/13 CAPRICORN FULL MOON.
Capricorn Full Moon is a smart time to solidify deals or schedule meetings as people naturally want things to fulfill around Full Moons. As always, remember that things can be a bit more dramatic or intense at this time.
Capricorn Full Moon coincides with a soft Venus-Neptune alignment which can make us overly romantic or indulgent, seeing things temporarily with rose-colored glasses. Good for socializing, romance, and working on interpersonal relationships …take things with a grain of salt.
7/16-17 DECISIVENESS.
Sun-Mercury great for making decisions, finalizing actions, signing contracts, and closing deals.
Lock it in or take action!
Meanwhile, Venus enters the water sign Cancer making us more caring, empathetic, and nostalgic from 7/17-8/11.
Be thoughtful with others, tell them how you feel, surprise them with considerate momentos, be endearing. You may happily surprised with how a bit of tenderness can shift the tone of interpersonal interactions. Negatively used, this transit can be prone to smothering.
Also, potential for a wet weather weekend or time out enjoying the water.
7/19-12/23 WOUNDED WARRIOR. Chiron takes its five-month retrograde cycle, sending our ‘wounded warrior’ in a reverse spin during the second half of the year. Time to strengthen any areas where we have been lacking self-advocacy, unexpressed anger, navigating outright hostility, or have been feeling competitiveness.
7/19-8/3 BENEVOLENCE OVER EGO. Mercury enters the fire sign Leo for a brief two-week stint making us express ourselves with enormity, enthusiasm, and shameless self-promotion. You will be thinking and speaking in ways that are astronomical. Careful not to sound egotistical, try to sound like the benevolent leader.
7/28 DOWNSIZE THE SUPERSIZE.
Leo New Moon encourages us to shine our light and expand our reach. However, it can be tempting to overindulge or act over-the-top. Radiate, but mindfully. Wisely used this influence can help us become more benevolent and generous.
On this same date, Jupiter- the growth planet- begins its five-month retrograde trek asking us to downsize anything we’ve supersized from 7/28-11/23.
Where have you taken on too much?
It’s hard to fly upward when we are heavy. Cut the unnecessary weight.
Downsizing during the summer will be especially helpful in preparation for the upcoming Mars Retrograde this fall which may deplete the economy and herald a new variant of the virus from October 2022-March 2023.
